What are some of your favorite swimming exercises that can be used for the first time swim team children?
I'm looking for some new ideas for the 8 and under children. something that is fun, but to increase their endurance without the usual back and forth. I have several, but I am with so many People can certainly come y'all with a little fun.
1. Kickboard Diving – Every swimmer gets a kick. They kick right on the "middle" of the Length of the track (our pool has a marker there, but you can guesstimate). Then they have to dive down and touch the bottom of the pool with a kickboard. This Drills usually takes a while to get those until Littler, but great for increasing the power and kick up their lungs! It also sets a big goal for them Like most of the 9-10s, this can already do. My kids love this exercise! 2. Mini Relay – Let divided them into teams and pitch them against each other in a relay format. This Relay gives them practice working speed and enjoy what it feels like "fun", but it actually works! We stroke relay, but doggie paddle relay, actually a lot of work for them as well. Bonus points for barking during the season! 3. Diving with dolphins – dive with 25s of Dolphins in the development Butterlfy kick and movement, and the kids love them. Remember that even the Dolphins right movement while diving. Normally, I gave them a 25 Dolphin Dive and then a 25 freestyle sprint back, so that they are tempo runs and fun. 4. Lung / Gut Busters – 25 sprints, not a breath. It is a requirement that all of my swimmers be able to do so before reaching 10 Trun, so we make fun out of it. I usually start with a 3-breath 25 Sprint and then as soon as they are all that I saw him fall to 2-breaths. If you are not doing the 2-breath, I add a sprint. It combines speed with endurance, and they push all know that it is harder to transfer to another, if they do not do it. As a rule, they can do everything 2, encouraging them to do 1 and maybe some do-no apnea. Tons of positive reinforcement helps with this drill and I find that really inspire them as they take them to recognize fewer breaths! Sometimes I make them do 25s fully submerged, and they actually received a kick out of that (not sure why!). 5. Treading Drills – newspaper over her head as to who is the longest is less a sprint. "Switch" to enter have: they come usinmg only certain body parts. Ex: Left arm only the right arm only, only the legs, arms, no legs, hands behind his head, etc. My children have a 5-minute tread every practice and finally they are stronger and can see a difference in him.
